Firewise.fire.org.nz is designed to allow
kids to further learn fire safety messages in a fun interactive
way. They can play in most areas without disclosing any
personal information such as name, address or email address
to the New Zealand Fire Service. There is no direct contact
between registered users of the Firewise.fire.org.nz website
at any time.
When registering at the Firewise.fire.org.nz hazardhouse
competition, new members must provide an email address for
the purpose of password verification and rejoining the game
at any stage from the level they were last on (if they wish)
Members' email addresses are additionally used for the random
draw prizes, and are not disclosed to third parties under
any circumstances. Full details of the random prize draws
can be found on the Terms and conditions section.
Your child’s privacy is important to us. Here are
some important things you should know about web surfing,
privacy and personal information:
1) Think carefully about giving anyone
on the Internet any personal information about yourself
or your family. This includes your last name, your home
address or your home telephone number.
2) Encourage your children not to let
other kids know their user ID’s (if recorded), screen
name or password.
3) Talk to your children about the sites
they intend to visit so you can ensure they are safe and
child-friendly.
4) Talk about this privacy section (and
terms & conditions if they intend to participate in
the prize draws) with your children so that you will know
what information the site collects about your children and
what it does with that information.
5) If a website has information about
your children you don’t want it to have, you have
the right to ask the website to delete or erase this information.
6) Sites are not supposed to collect more
information than is reasonably necessary for the activities
you and your children want to participate in. You should
be able to participate in many online activities by giving
little or no information about yourself.
If a site makes you or your children uncomfortable, or asks
for more information than you want to give, leave the site.
