1. Competition Duration

The promotion commences on 11 October 2004 and will continue until its closure date is notified on this website.

2. Prize Draws

2.1 Every month one major will be drawn at random from the registration list. Entries will close at 11.59pm on the last day of each month commencing with a major prize draw on the 10th of January 2007 and then on the 1st business day of subsequent month until the end of the promotion.

3. The Prizes

3.1 The prize list consists of:

(10) Sanyo 5600 video cellphones on the Telecom network (to be distributed by random through the duration of the promotion.

3.2 Minor prizes may be added to this list throughout the duration of the promotion and will be listed here if and when they are determined.

3.3 The New Zealand Fire Service reserves the right to add additional prizes through the duration of the competitions.

3.4 If you are under the age of 18 years, you will be required to have a Parent or Guardian consent to the collection of major prizes.

3.5 The New Zealand Fire Service will be responsible for the cost of delivering any prizes

4. Liability

4.1 Under no circumstances will the New Zealand Fire Service be responsible or liable for any direct, incidental, special, consequential, indirect or punitive damages or loss resulting from:


4.1.1 Any problems and/or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email on account of technical problems and/or traffic congestion on the Internet and/or at any website or combination of thereof, including injury or damage to you or any other persons computer related to and/or resulting from participation in this competition or other error of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic.
4.1.2 Any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft and/or destruction and/or unauthorised access to, and/or alteration of entries.
4.1.3 Any entries not properly or accurately transmitted, received or processed due to any cause whatsoever.
4.1.4 Any loss or damage howsoever suffered or for personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of the taking, participating or use of any prize.
4.1.5 Any delay, cancellation or other failure to conduct the competition for any reason whatsoever.

4.1.6 In the event any portion of this competition is compromised by causes beyond the control of the New Zealand Fire Service which, in the sole opinion of the New Zealand Fire Service, impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper play of the competition, the New Zealand Fire Service reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend or terminate the competition or any part of the competition.

5. Publicity & Prizes

5.1 All prize winners agree to the use of their name on the winners' list without any further compensation and for their name and/or photograph to be used for publicity and promotional purposes without any further compensation.

5.2 All entries become the property of the New Zealand Fire Service. All entries will be entered into a database.

5.3 Information held on the firewise.fire.org.nz website is secure and will not be disclosed to any third parties.

5.4 The New Zealand Fire Service National Headquarters is located on Level 9, 80 The Terrace House, PO Box 2133, Wellington, New Zealand.

6. Eligibility

6.1 Entry is only open to people who currently live in New Zealand. Employees and families (civilian or operational, career or volunteer) of the New Zealand Fire Service are ineligible to enter. Entering under different user names or memberships will make all that entrant's entries invalid.

6.2 All prize winners on firewise.fire.org.nz will be notified by e-mail. The prize winners in return will have to supply requested details, such as postal address for prize distribution, within 14 days by return e-mail. Failure to do so will mean the prize will be forfeited.

6.3 Fill in all details on the registration screen. Read and agree to the Terms and Conditions.

6.4 The prize allocation is final on all matters relating to this promotion and no correspondence will be entered into.

7. Disclaimer

7.1 Every care has been taken to make firewise.fire.org.nz a safe environment. Our production team has checked all links to external sites, but does not accept responsibility for content on sites not under the control of the New Zealand Fire Service.

8. Privacy

Any personal information you supply will remain completely confidential between you and the New Zealand Fire Service. This means that any information collected will not be shared with any other parties, and will only be used for contacting you about the firewise.fire.org.nz website.
